The first essay in Holidays on Ice was great, but the rest weren't worth the effort, except maybe "Dinah, the Christmas Whore." I had to sit at the dealership for two hours so I took along The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. I loved it and devoured it in just over an hour. I did feel a ...

I will have to hunt down a copy of Free-Range Chickens, but Holidays on Ice would make the perfect stocking stuffer.

And Holidays on Ice is such an excellent holiday read. Enjoy it! (And it hardly counts, since it barely takes up any space at all.)

... make this trip as a family, although unspoken, is the emotional thread that runs through the story. Recommended. (113) Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris Humor, Audiobook The audiobook is read by David Sedaris, Amy Sedaris and Ann Magnuson. I read the paper version in 2004, so this is ...

#139 - I also liked Holidays on Ice. I read it a few years ago. Not as funny as Me Talk Pretty One Day but pretty good. I just bought the audiobook so I can listen to it while I'm doing holiday baking. SantaLand Diaries is my favorite. Every time I see the movie Elf and Jovy ...

I smile just thinking about Holidays on Ice and Ant farm. Simon Rich also has another called Free Range Chickens. All silly vignettes of fun!

Ooh! Holidays on Ice! That was the first story I heard Sedaris read.

I finished Holiday On Ice and really liked it, especially "SantaLand Diaries" and "Front Row Center with Thaddeus Bristol". I also finished Crampton Hodnet by Barbara Pym, which I liked for its character studies. I liked her Excellent Women a little more though. On another note, I had a ...

70) Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris--Boooo. I remember thinking that Naked and Me Talk Pretty One Day were hilarious, but Holidays on Ice sucked. It was unfunny, unsubtle, and un-nice. I think it's because usually Sedaris makes fun of himself, but here he was mostly making fun of ...

That could be me that has the bookring copy of Ice by Louis Nowra. I've just started it. (How did you get the touchstone to recognise this book?) I'm only a couple of chapters in, but I'm enjoying it thus far.

David Sedaris' essay Santaland Diaries in Holidays on Ice is a must at Christmas time. The first time I read this, I laughed so hard tears were streaming down my face! To my knowledge, the Folio Society has, sadly, never published Sedaris.

First, I will finish Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris. I'm off today to pick up a copy of New Moon, which is being held for me at the library. So that will be next. Then, it'll either be The Godmother by Elizabeth Ann Scarborough or The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein ...
