Looks like a [b:Diary of a Wimpy Kid|389627|Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, #1)|Jeff Kinney|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1255573105s/389627.jpg|2617009] clone, but is actually based on a long-running newspaper comic, so we can't accuse the author of copycatting. 11-year-old Big Nate is actually Greg Heffley's opposite in one key way: he's bursting with confidence and positivity. This is a day-in-the-life story filled with his wacky antics. ( )

Nate ponders his next day of school, worrying about a test that he may not of heard about and panics when he thinks his friend is reading his social studies book.

Big Nate: In a Class by Himself is a humorous hybrid graphic novel about Nate's experiences over the span of one day of school. Most of the day is dominated by Nate's desire to make a fortune cookie come true, and what obstacles he faces along the way. Nate's character is well developed and the plot is easy to follow. Overall, Big Nate: In a Class by Himself is a perfect fit for its target audience. ( )

in this book Nate is the main character, he is a big trouble maker in school. The reason he met one of his best friends was because they both got detention together. In the beginning of the book he get a fortune cookie that says he will surpass all other today. Throughout the day he try to figure out how his fortune will come true. Along the way he ends up getting detention slips in every class. When he goes to detention the lady tells him he set a new school record meaning, his fortune came true. ( )

Kid fans of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" will definitely eat this one up, since it has a very similar style, tone and main character as that book. It's a fun, quick read, but also quickly forgotten once read. "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" is witty enough to please adults as well as kids. This one I would say is strictly for the kiddies. ( )
