Chalk is a super fun book read that follows a group of kids that suddenly find chalk on the ground. They then use that chalk to draw objects that suddenly come to life. However, these objects start to cause problems so the kids must get creative and draw the solutions that the problems. This book is a great read for kids ages from 5-7 and is a fun book to follow along with! This wordless book is the fantastic adventure of three young friends as they discover a bag of chalk at the playground and begin to draw pictures. They quickly realize that what they draw will come to life and then the trouble begins. Quick thinking and ingenuity save the day. This inventive and entertaining story appeals to a child's sense of curiosity, creativity, and resourcefulness. Critical Analysis: This wordless picture book contains complex two-page artwork spreads in vivid color tones that depict believable actions. Thompson's use of line and shadow provide significant t meaning and move the story brilliantly.
