Tick Tock is the fourth novel in the Michael Bennett series, it's up there in how enthralling it is with Worst Case, once you start it's hard to put down.

This time around a criminal is executing people and placing bombs throughout New York City, naturally the brass call in Michael Bennett, hot shot detective, to sort it out and capture the perpetrator. All the while this is going on the Bennett family go for a holiday by the beach where another Irish family with young kids is present and there's friction between the kids leading to threats and stitches. In addition, Michael & Mary continue down their romantic road, whilst FBI Agent Emily Parker also comes to down to assist with the case once again distracting Michael Bennett with his wandering eyes.

An enjoyable law enforcement romp that has all the elements of a fantastic cop novel, and manages to pull them all together well. ( )

Not bad... but not great either. ( )

Michael Bennett is an Irish-American widower. He has 10 children from a variety of racial backgrounds. He has an Irish nanny and his grandfather living with him and helping with the kids. The kids experience prejudice on vacation.

I felt a little uncomfortable with his casually pursuit of a relation ship with his young nanny.I was thinking of the differences in age and power Also how it would hurt the kids if he messed it up.

Also found it odd when someone's "research" didn't include information on the family. ( )

Mike Bennet NYPD w/ 10 adopted children — seaside retreat Breezy Pt? — killer + good

A rash of horrifying crimes tears through the city, throwing it into complete chaos and terrorizing everyone living there. Immediately, it becomes clear that they are not the work of an amateur, but of a calculating, efficient, and deadly mastermind.

The city calls on Detective Michael Bennett, pulling him away from a seaside retreat with his ten adopted children, his grandfather, and their beloved nanny, Mary Catherine. Not only does it tear apart their vacation, it leaves the entire family open to attack.

It was a definite thriller, full of suspense, action, and gore. A bit longer than necessary, even if it was a quick read. Michael gets a call on vacation ( I guess there's nobody else in NYPD who can detect crimes?) and the crisis evolves out to his vacation home. Characters include a ten person child posse, a single dad, an Irish nanny that sometimes doubles as wife and an unwitting partner/bedmate FBI agent. If you believe all that, i have some land in Florida to sell. Not a bad cop story, overall and the publisher's marketing machine definitely affected this one. ( )
