None. RATING: 2.5 stars.A nice, quick read, "Tutankhamun" is a mystery set in Ancient Egypt. I liked the story, although I thought Rahotep didn't do much investigative work most of the time. Also, while Drake gets the overall descriptions of the places right, I felt he didn't really capture the ways of Ancient Egypt. The characters thinking was too modern, too 19th century England. The thought processes of most characters seemed out of place as did some expressions like when one character exclaims something like "that is so much rubish" and terms like "clubs" or "brothels" or the secret societies devoted solely to scientific study. Still, I liked this read and recommend it for fans of historical mysteries. ( )This is a very interesting historical mystery about the short rein of Tutankhamun. It appears that Drake tried to stay true to what little is known about the boy king, and it was a fun read. I really enjoyed this book. A follow-up to 'Nefertiti', this novel looks at the further adventures of Rahotep, the Seeker of Mysteries - this time in the court of Tutankhamun. If you like Ancient Egypt and you like a good mystery story, you could do little better than to try this book. I find the writing believable and the characters well rounded in the main. The attention to detail is immense, you really feel like you're there with Rahotep every step of the way. Second in series of the historical mysteries set in ancient Egypt. Rahotep, chief detective of Thebes Medjay (police force) investigates a possible serial killer in the city and an evil doer in the palace. In this 2nd installment, the main character Rahotep is much more developed. You learn more about him, his family and friends and colleagues. There are interesting interactions with the historical figures and what may have led to the mysterious death of King Tutankhamun. This is suppose to be a 2nd in a trilogy, but I would love to see this character develop into a running series. After putting it off for ages I decided to branch into a different genre -historical crime fiction. This is a great book, set in the time of Tutankhamun in Ancient Egypt. Pageantry, crime, greed and drugs makes for a great background on which the plot unfolds. I thought this book was great as will anyone who has been to Egypt or knows a bit about egyptology. no reviews | add a review
