I am officially hooked on this series. About 3/4ths of the way through I made sure to go out and get books 3-6. This book was as good as the first, if not better. I loved that Grandma Mazur went along with Stephanie on some of her bounty hunter duties and I loved how Joe and Stephanie's friendship grew. I look forward to reading more of this series. ( )

It was an enjoyable reading. Sometimes I had to laugh out loud on the one hand Stephanie would like to be a hero and is stomping straight into a mess on the other hand she is acting like a coward and has to take her grandma with her as a kind of protection. Unfortunately she abandons her granny into dangerous situations, whereas the old lady seems to enjoy those situations and can be really tough. Nevertheless without the help of her 'might to be lover' she wouldn't be able to solve the case and couldn't get out of some delicate situations. ( )

This was a good book to read over Thanksgiving, when I was with family -- it was a quick read, and I didn't mind if I was interrupted. ( )

Stephanie Plum is back and this time she's trying to hunt down Kenny Mancuso. Kenny shot one of his best friends in the knee and then returned later to finish the job. With the help of Morelli, Ranger, and the ever-loveable Grandma Mazur, maybe Stephanie can catch Kenny before Kenny catches her.

This book is just as fun and funny as the first of the series. Stephanie isn't a perfect heroine, but that's what makes her so appealing. And Morelli...what is there to say about Morelli? What a smokin' bad boy! Grandma Mazur makes a lengthier appearance in this book, and she is on a roll. Who wouldn't love a grandmother who can take a potshot at a pickup truck with a .45 without blinking? And who has Dirty Harry's famous speech memorized? Oh my gosh, she is too funny.

If you like your mysteries with a dash of humor and a whole lot of spunk, pick these up. ( )

NOTE: I am know I am one of the last people ever to start reading this series but better late than never right? It is as fun (so far) as people said. Stephanie Plum is one hot mess :)

Audio Review: C.J. Critt actually did a wonderful job with the narration. My problem was with the long pauses between chapters. I am guessing that it is because the book may have been recorded for cassette tape rendering.

Quick Review: Since most people have read the Stephanie Plum series there isn't much I can add about what a joy the stories are. In the 2nd book there still isn't a whole lot of the choose Team Morelli or Team Ranger stuff. Right now I am Team Grandma Mazur---that woman is a hoot. Since most of this book took place in and around a funeral home (one of her favorite pasttimes is to attend funerals), she was in the story a lot. Stephanie, Ranger, and Morelli were also fantastic though Ranger's role was a bit limited. Overall, if you are looking for a fun mystery series with great characters then I would highly recommend reading these books.

Book description
Kenny Mancuso shot his childhood buddy Moogey Bues in the knee and then jumped bail. Now bounty hunter extraordinaire Stephanie Plum is on the case to track Kenny down.

Then someone finishes Moogey off, Kenny can't be found, twenty-four coffins are missing, and there's some ex-army heavy artillery roaming the streets. And Joe Morelli - the cop with more than a professional interest in her every move - is tailing Stephanie.

With a healthy disregard for the law, and an unhealthy dependence on marshmallow hot chocolate, Stephanie's a match for anyone - even Morelli. That is, until her eccentric grandmother goes AWOL and little pieces of corpses start to disappear...

Amazon.com Product Description (ISBN 0312948964, Mass Market Paperback)

Bounty hunter Stephanie Plum is still learning the ropes at her cousin Vinnie's bail bond office, so when she sets out on the trail of Kenny Mancuso--a suspiciously wealthy, working class Trenton boy who has just shot his best friend--the stakes are higher than ever. That Mancuso is distantly related to vice cop Joe Morelli--who is trying to beat Stephanie to the punch--only makes the hunt more thrilling….

Taking pointers from her bounty hunter pal, Ranger, and using her pistol-packing Granda Mazur as a decoy, Stephanie is soon closing in on her mark. But Morelli and his libido are worthy foes. And a more sinister kind of enemy has made his first move…and his next move might be Stephanie's last.
