There is a pattern: on a two page spread, with one page of text is first two sound words, followed by a description of the feet, and a query regarding who is dancing. The pictures on this set of pages features only animal feet. The following two pages provides the answer with more of the assoiated sound, and the exclamation Happy Feet. The picture now features the entire animal. Illustrations are colorful collages. The book is rythmic and perfet for reading aloud. With joyous, rhythmic, and onomatopoeic descriptions, Dancing Feet allows children to play a guessing game throughout the pages of the book, figuring out which animal is dancing. Marc Brown’s “cut out” paper like illustrations give the right amount of clues for children to guess what animal it is. With the flip of the page the answer is the revealed, and children see what animal makes a “thumpity-thumpity” noise with its feet. This book is perfect for a preschool or kindergarten classroom library.
