This book is for primary level students. This picture book depicts a dog named Rocket and his friend, the little yellow bird, and Rocket's journey to read and enjoy stories found in books. Though he may have been reluctant to learn at first, his love for stories told by the little bird encouraged him to learn to read them for himself.
This book would be incredibly helpful for parents to read to children who may be reluctant or struggling to learn to read. It gives them encouragement to try, as they will want to have the same excitement for stories as Rocket does.

Rocket is a dog who doesn't know how to read. A yellow bird teaches him how to read.
I personally don't lobe this book; I find it boring. But, I could read it aloud to primary students as they're learning to read and use it as encouragement, like "if a dog can do it so can you." I probably wouldn't use it beyond that.

Super sweet book to show patience and friendship, that learning something new isn't always a bad thing. I think this book shows opportunity for growth in relationships and in knowledge ( )

What’s not to like about this charming book ... an adorable dog, a bird who teaches reading, and the wonder of letters turning into words, and words turning into stories. ( )

Book description
About a dog named Rocket and how he learns to read. He is a little against it at first, but a great story about bone hidden gets his attention. I thought this was fun read, the art was good. It would serve a great purpose in a classroom teaching kids how to read. Rocket is a great example of how a student learns and how they need to practice on their own.
