Roger Houston Ogden, an attorney and entrepreneur in New Orleans, has over the past quarter century assembled one of the finest collections of southern American art in the world. The Ogden Collection of Southern Art, which currently numbers more than 1,200 works, includes oil paintings, water-colors, drawings, sculptures, photographs, and other southern artworks dating from the early eighteenth century to the present. From that remarkable collection Randolph Delehanty.
Has selected 237 splendid pieces to showcase here. Full-color reproductions, and Delehanty's accompanying descriptions of the works and their makers, together sketch the story of the visual arts in the South. No library descriptions found. |
