Usted dice que la memoria es experiencia incompleta. Yo guardo un recuerdo y una vívida impresión de sus pláticas anteriores. En qué sentido es esto una experiencia incompleta? Por favor, explíquelo en detalle.

Krishnamurti:

iQué entendemos por memoria? Ustedes van a la escuela y están cargados de hechos, de conocimientos tecnológicos. Si uno es ingeniero, usa la memoria del conocimiento tecnológico que se requiere para construir un puente. Ésa es la memoria actual.
Está también la memoria psicológica. Usted me ha dicho algo agradable o desagradable, y yo lo retengo; y cuando me encuentro nuevamente con usted, lo hago con ese recuerdo, el recuerdo de lo que usted ha dicho o no ha dicho.

Hay, pues, dos recetas de la memoria: la psicológica y la actual. Se hallan siempre relacionadas entre sí; por lo tanto, no están bien definidas. Sabemos que la memoria actual es esencial como medio de vida. Pero ies esencial la memoria psicológica? Cuál es el factor que la retiene? Qué nos hace recordar el insulto o el elogio? iPor qué conservamos ciertos recuerdos y obviamente, uno conserva los recuerdos que son agradables y evita los desagradables.

Si usted observa, verá que los recuerdos dolorosos son deshechados más rapidamente...
