If you've already read a bunch of collage books, there aren't any new techniques here, but ATCs are really interesting ways to explore the possibilities of collage. ( )Even though I've had this book, plenty of materials, and tons of time to do it, I've yet to make my first ATC. This book is inspring, though, and I'm sure that one of these days its going to give me the final shove that I need to get going. Lovely work in here. This book is great if you are new to ATCs, or if you're in a rut and looking for something new to try. There are gorgeous example cards, and step by step instructions for every technique. If you only get one ATC book, get this one. As the front cover shows, this collection of ATC techniques has a bias towards antique and vintage cards. Therefore the techniques show how to make cards via watercolors, magazine and phone book backgrounds and heavily layered and embellished techniques. There are a few clean, graphic designs like those from Claudine Hellmuth, but most of them are elaborated to the point of obfuscation. Some of them go way beyond the borders of a traditional ATC. The last half of the book covers altered books and tins. Although I enjoyed the technique I bought this book for, I doubt I will refer to it again. no reviews | add a review
