This was definitely the best one yet. I really liked the different way that Kaderin and Bastian met and how they formed a bond and from there a relationship. Great writing and interesting plot, with a good dose of valuable character development. ( )

No Rest for the Wicked
5 Stars

Sebastian Wroth has had enough of his existence until the moment Kaderin the Cold Hearted arrives to take his miserable life. After awakening something within him, Kaderin becomes his sole reason for living but she is not called "Cold Hearted" for nothing and cannot understand why she is inexplicably drawn to him. Now the two are competitors in the Talisman Hie, a legendary treasure hunt with a prize that may alter both their pasts and the future they may share together.

Absolutely fantastic!

Sebastian's strength and intense vulnerability are the perfect mix. He is simply adorable and the newest addition to my hero harem. Kaderin takes a little getting used to but she is a wonderful kick-ass heroine and her journey toward loving and accepting Sebastian makes for excellent reading.

The Talisman Hie serves as interesting backdrop to the romance and characterization, especially for Bowen. Besides, who doesn't love a good treasure hunt with exciting action scenes?

The story is well-written and the humor laugh-out-loud funny. I particularly enjoyed the comments of the other Lore characters at the Talisman Hie gathering, especially the trolls.

Finally, although time travel is not one of my preferred plot devices due to the inherent paradoxes, Cole manages not only to make the concept logical but to resolve it in a satisfying way.

Looking forward to reading Bowen's book next - should be interesting to see how he overcomes his curse...

This novel is part of The Immortal After Dark Series. So far this is my favorite book in the series. The main heroine of the story is Kaderin, The Coldhearted, who makes it her mission to rid the world of vampires at all cost. Kaderin is a child of the Gods and wields power that can help her to defeat her enemy. Kaderin meets Sebastian, who is a vampire, and her world is no longer black and white. This book is full of adventure and paranormal lore that will keep you on your toes. ( )

When vampires killed her most beloved sisters, the heroine has herself stripped of feelings to cope with the loss and spends her life killing off the species. Her mission brings her to a cabin secluded in the mountain and inside she finds the most unusual thing. The hero, turned against his will and loathing himself and what he is, has spent he life exiled from everyone is an attempt to avoid his thirst. He’s actually quite pleased when the Valkyrie warrior appears before him and plans to end his existence. But attraction and desire leads to them getting hot and heavy on the floor and must to his astonishment, he discovers that she is his fated Bride. Disgusted with herself but unable to kill the beautiful tortured man, she flees but he follows. During this time, the heroine enters the immortal games in a bid to win a magical object in which will take her back in time and allow her to save the life of her sisters. The hero, wanting nothing more than to prove himself as a male of worth, enters the games as well but with the gold to win the magical object in order to give it to his bride. The heroine is frustrated by the male who shadows her because he’s able to wiggle his way under her skin and challenge her hard fought or calm. The hero’s loyalty and devotion was so amazing and slow but surely, he’s able to draw out the heroine’s suppressed emotions. A very lovely game of cat and mouse and another absolute stunner by this author ( )

Kaderin and Sebastian. *sigh*

I loved this one for so many reasons, the first being that I adore IAD series! But come on, an immortal scavenger hunt? How fun is that? ( )

Book description
In this next installment in the Immortals After Dark Series, USA Today Bestselling author Kresley Cole delivers a scorching tale about a forbidding vampire who lives in the shadows and the beautiful assassin who hunts him there.

A soldier weary of life . . .
Centuries ago, Sebastian Wroth was turned into a vampire – a nightmare in his mind – against his will. Burdened with hatred and alone for ages, he sees little reason to live. Until an exquisite, fey creature comes to kill him, inadvertently saving him instead.

A Valkyrie assassin dispatched to destroy him . . .
When Kaderin the Cold Hearted lost her two beloved sisters to a vampire attack long ago, a benevolent force deadened her sorrow – accidentally extinguishing all of her emotions. Yet whenever she encounters Sebastian, her feelings – particularly lust – emerge multiplied. For the first time, she's unable to complete a kill.

Become competitors in a legendary hunt.
The prize of the month-long contest is powerful enough to change history, and Kaderin will do anything to win it for her sisters. Wanting only to win her, forever, Sebastian competes as well, taking every opportunity – as they travel to ancient tombs and through catacombs, seeking relics around the world – to use her new feelings to seduce her. But when forced to choose between the vampire she's falling for and reuniting her family, how can Kaderin live without either?
