This book puts life into the old fairy tale "Graciosa and Percinet", offers a better end to the wicked stepmother, and certainly makes sense of some of Graciosa's more baffling actions from the original.
Set in the middle ages, Graciosa, a count's daughter, has been taught to fear both fun and magic. Percinet, half mortal son of the faerie queen, has fallen in love with her. When Graciosa's father marries the cruel, ugly, rich Grognon (aka Lady Eglantine) and gives her complete control of her new stepdaughter, Grognon is set on making fair Graciosa's life total misery. Percinet is determined to help, but overcoming Graciosa's fear of magic proves near impossible ( )
