The Dead and the Gone by Susan Pfeffer
Generation Dead by Daniel Waters

Thanks for sharing; ... Boyish young adult... Born to Rock, Notes from the Midnight Driver, Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie, Bud, Not Buddy, 24 Girls in 7 Days? I just finished Hurt Go Happy, which was excellent (but sad). And I forgot to say that I read Notes from the Midnight Driver a few days ago, which was also very good -- it makes me want to read Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie, which is on my TBR shelf at the moment.
Right now I should be ... I finished Notes From the Midnight Driver. It was good. Really sad and happy at the same time. Next I'll probably be moving on to Wicked. That is, unless Foggi finds something else for me to read. #44 you want Patrick Stewart for Christmas?
I'm going to read either Notes from the Midnight Driver or Wicked next. I have both sitting here to be read, I just have to decide what I want to read. . . ... you don't mind getting a little teary, here's my recent favorites from the YA genre:
The Book Thief
Hurt Go Happy
Notes From the Midnight Driver
And if you liked Holes, its sequel Small Steps was pretty good too.
... Amy Tan or other similar writers).
Now I'm starting The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly.

Highly recommended! ... is also a great author for 8-12th grades. Drums Girls and Dangerous Pie was really good and I'm currently reading Notes From the Midnight Driver which is also shaping up to be a good one. ... which would normally annoy me, but the dialog is really fun and the characters keep me hooked.
I also started Notes From the Midnight Driver as a read aloud. Jordan Sonnenblick is pretty brilliant when it comes to spinning humor into teen drama. Can't wait to see where it goes. : ... #224/258 Notes from the Midnight Driver (I had to cheat though) ... and Mzee

...and a few others that I can't remember right now... Another YA book down, Notes from the Midnight Driver. I picked this up, randomely, at the library. I was looking for a YA novel that was not SF or fantasy. It seems like most of the good ones written recently have been rather fantastical in nature. The last YA book that I remember reading that ... So far this book is okay, not nearly as good as Sonnenblick's other titles, Notes from the Midnight Driver or Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie. But all three titles probably have great YA boy appeal. I work in an intermediate school, books that I've read recently and would recommend are:
