A good example of realistic fiction because characters are depicted with typical personalities and acting in ways typical of children. When Judy forgets to come to practice a dance for a project, her friends do not want to speak to her or work with her anymore, being jealous that she had been playing with another friend at the time. The projects they are working on in school, each on a different country, would be seen in many schools. The teacher becomes the mediator in the dispute of this group of friends, as would be seen in real life many times. When a new student arrives who is uncannily similar to Judy, she is annoyed at first, then really enjoys her company. Her friends go back and forth about liking her as well. Dynamics of friendships are pretty accurately depicted here.

A new Judy Moody book! Rare!
In this installment, the irrepressible Judy Moody meets her doppleganger, Amy Namey. Not only does Amy have a name-that's-a-poem, just like Judy, she's also funny, exuberant, and inquisitive, just like Judy. Same same! Another winner from Mcdonald and Reynolds. My 3rd grade daughter is a Judy Moody fan, too--although, if truth be told, she probably likes Judy's brother Stink better. ( )

A brand-new friend and a big class project put Judy in an international mood in this comical new adventure.

Judy Moody cannot believe her ears. There at the lunch table, a girl called Amy Namey is interviewing Judy's best friends, Rocky and Frank. Even worse, Amy is dressed like Nellie Bly, daredevil woman reporter, much like Judy's emulation of a certain woman doctor. Is this clipboard-carrying girl destined to be Judy's new best enemy? Or new best friend? Judy Moody finds some unexpected potholes on the path to friendship as Class 3T takes a whirlwind tour of the globe, investigating everything from tooth-brushing sticks in Yemen to an Italian "spider dance" along the way. Fans will cheer as Judy finally masters the challenge of making new friends and keeping the old — for sure and absolute positivo!
