This is a wonderful addition to the series, and while clearing up a few loose ends, it created several more tantalizing characters to follow up on. Grandmother and Amberhill are two I look forward to reading more about, as well as Karigan. ( )

The third Green Rider novel takes place not long after First Rider's Call. The King is finally engaged, and Karigan takes the first opportunity of a mission to escape the city. Meanwhile the D'yer Wall is still damaged and growing worse, and the Second Empire continue to plot against the kingdom.
This was as good as the others. It was great also seeing some of the characters from the first novel again.

If you love horses, fantasy, honour and loyalty then you simply must pick this one up.
Riveting read and a very fine series. This is Kristens' third book in her first ever trilogy. Looking forward to many, many more. ( )

The third in the Green Rider series.

Plans are going about in the castle for a wedding and more Riders are being called. Captain Mapstone feels the best training for the new Riders is to send them off with trained Riders to gain experience. Fergal is one of those new Riders, assigned to who else but Karigan. Karigan's not exactly happy for the company, but she does realize it's for the best. But we all know Karigan's message errands are never easy. Throw in a masked gentleman bandit and more trouble at the D'Yer Wall and you've got a great addition to the series. Britain keeps improving. ( )

Dedication
In memory of Batwing

my nasty boy, my true miracle

for whom reams could be written

about the power to love

and the will to live,

—and—

In memory of Earl Grey

my sweet boy and manuscript cozy

a bright spirit

who shone so brilliantly

for too short a time.

I miss you, boys. I really miss you.
First words
In the autumn season, hawks, falcons, and eagles followed an ancient path through the sky on their journey south for the winter, the same path their ancestors had flown since the first took wing in ages long dark to memory.
