If Klinghoffer's adherence to the inerrancy of Torah is traditional, his unconcern for Jewry as such is distinctive. He has nothing to say about the Holocaust or the state of Israel. He attacks Jewish tribalism, including the self-satisfied subculture of some birthright Orthodox, and takes a poke at Irving Kristol and William Safire for advocating Jewish education without subscribing to Jewish truth. That the covenant was made with the entire Jewish tribe doesn't seem to concern him. Jewish survival should be solely a function of belief. With his convert's zeal, David Klinghoffer has issued a prophetic challenge. Whether he will be honored for it in his adopted house is an interesting question.
