Sometimes I wish translated books would include annotations, or at least footnotes. I was confused by nouns such as "live house" and "cram school". Not so interesting was a lot of the technical detail about the inner politics of the Japanese police force. As a thriller it was okay--but not enough of a satisfying mystery or thriller to get me hooked into the series. The characters were likable enough.... ( )
