They struggle with parents, friends, morality, and even themselves! You could say in this in this book Hailey is trying so hard to find herself while trying to survive a world of chaos that surrounds her! She wants’ so badly to find something to believe in and she tries to put her faith in religion but instead she finds Moses Watkins. Then things get scary! She is a true heroine. I found myself admiring her and inspired by her strength because of the way Chris portrayed her in “Dirty Little Angels”! I thought this book had a powerful plot and once I started reading it I could not put it down until I was finished! I found this read rather poetic and deep. I truly enjoyed this piece of literature! It is a book I could very easily read again! Chris demonstrated a true talent and passion for writing. Not to mention the ability to appeal to contemporary writing on a whole new level." Often Goodwyn & Acredolo provide stronger support for what Dermond is aiming for than Dermond herself does. They also give some interesting additional strategies and types, some interesting nuances that come from a similar but not entirely identical set of concerns and approaches. There are some points where the authors would likely disagree with each other that allow the reader to think more deeply about how to nurture a happy, calm, compassionate young person. Both provide additional resources & readings for further exploration. Also, if you have friends, family, and caregivers who play a support role in your raising your child and you wish to get them on board with your efforts, but who might be put off by some of the new aginess of Dermond's book, Goodwyn & Acredolo give you a another tool that will appeal to the more 'rational' (I put that in quotation marks as I think that those who might dislike what they consider more touchy-feelie and new aginess of Dermond are not necessarily therefore more rational) and mainstream person."
