Such short answers... and if I cared, I could google for 'em.
My mom enjoyed them, but then, she's not a scientist or much of a fan of science books; I'm betting she's not even read Mary Roach for example.
But hey, the one about how fast an epidemic can spread around the world was, ah, 'fun' to read right now, as we did manage to develop a vaccine before Covid-19 became something everyone caught... good on us. ;) (The expert cited says 1 year, 3 ft radius of what we call social distancing, show more a strain of influenza, and stop the spread by [implied] full-on quarantine [of cities, regions] instead of masks and quarantine of symptomatic individuals.) show less

This is an interesting volume of old techniques and tools which would interest a lover of historical evolution of tools.
