I liked where The Extra was going, I just don't think it was a fully fleshed out execution. Like some of the other reviewers have said, I wondered why Matt did not have an attendance list. The premise of the story is rather creepy, having an extra person in the group who shouldn't be there and wasn't there when you started the trip, but nothing bad ever actually happens. No one is hurt or threatened, none of the participants feel scared, there's no grand reveal of who the extra is, and we show more don't even get resolution to find out if they guessed correctly at the end. As much as I think it would have been better if it was scarier, I do think this would be a great option for people who are horror hesitant, but want to try out the genre or don't want any gore or violence. There's just enough to be a little creeped out, but not enough to be looking over your shoulder scared. I had a good time with it, I just wish there was more. show less

An unreliable narrator spinning a chilling tale of memory and deception.

Atmosphärisch und angenehm düster – so lässt sich "The Extra" wohl am treffendsten beschreiben. Die unterschwellige Bedrohung und das Gefühl, dass irgendetwas nicht stimmt, haben mir gut gefallen.

Auch die Idee hinter der Geschichte ist spannend und weckt sofort Neugier. Man möchte unbedingt herausfinden, was hinter dem seltsamen Rätsel steckt und wohin die Handlung führt. Die Autorin schafft es dabei, eine dichte Atmosphäre zu erzeugen, die hervorragend zu diesem eher ruhigen, show more unheimlichen Horror passt.

Leider hat mich das Ende jedoch ziemlich unzufrieden zurückgelassen. Nach dem gelungenen Aufbau hätte ich mir eine Auflösung gewünscht, die mehr Klarheit oder zumindest einen stärkeren emotionalen Abschluss bietet. show less
