Stuart Bennett

Decided to pick this one up now, since the Jane Austen books are still in my head. While I appreciate what Bennett tried to do here (put modern humans into the worlds of Austen and Shakespeare), I don't think it quite worked. The time-travel mechanism just isn't explained, which makes the whole plot a bit difficult to understand; even with that, the story didn't really do much for me.

A refutation of the general idea that most books in England during this period were sold in sheets and bound later. Bennett argues, and fairly persuasively, that based on a wide range of evidence, in fact the majority of books were sold ready-bound. Includes excellent illustrations and extensive notes.
