This book hit hard. It’s full of damaged people trying to do better, and the world just keeps kicking them down. Perry captures small-town judgment with painful accuracy—the way everyone claims to want redemption stories but can’t resist holding a grudge when one walks through the door.

The writing is beautiful in places, almost poetic, and the Maine coast feels alive on the page—cold, rough, and indifferent, just like the people in it. But it’s a tough read emotionally. There’s show more not much space to breathe; every time someone reaches for a little light, something or someone reminds them they don’t deserve it.

I can admire the honesty of that. Real life doesn’t always reward effort or growth, and the book doesn’t pretend otherwise. Still, it left me more heavy than hopeful. Worth reading, but maybe not when you’re looking for comfort.

This novel, in my humble opinion deserves 10 stars. The writing is gorgeous, the characters are perfectly imperfect, the descriptions of the Maine coastal landscape and scenery are breathtaking and the story itself is absolutely wonderful. This book has it all in spades. Blake has recently been released from prison and returns to a small coastal Maine town to start fresh. She has secrets she holds close to her heart and keeps walls up for protection. When she takes on a job as a sternman show more with a local lobster fisherman named Leland she had no idea how she would be drawn into his family, his acquaintances and the intricacy of their lives. Hearts begin to heal and it is a beautiful thing to watch. Please do yourself a big favor and read this book. It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me very, very happy. Highly recommended. 5 stars - but 10 if I could. show less

Recently released from prison, Blake Alvares returns to the only place she ever felt safe, the now derelict Maine town in which she harbored as a teen. Determined to conceal her secrets and losses, she soon finds herself dragged into others’ lives when she takes a job on a boat owned by a notorious young lobsterman.

These characters are fantastic, especially Quinnie. This little girl keeps everyone on their toes! Then there is Blake. Your heart goes out to her because of her past and her show more present. She is tough but so damaged.

This book is a conundrum. It quotes a lot of bible verses and I honestly thought “I am reading a Christian fiction.” (Not my fav!) But then, the story would derail and one of the characters was not very “Christian-like.” I felt like it was preaching to me one minute and corrupting me the next. So, the writing style is not my favorite. Several places I rolled my eyes…BUT…there were also places where I thought…THIS IS A FREAKING FIVE STAR READ! I mean…the last half of this book will keep you in the edge of your seat!

Need a story which will break your heart and build it back up again…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

I received this novel for a honest review.

"Water Finds A Way" by Meghan Perry

My Perception:

'Water Finds a Way' was an intriguing read with some well-developed characters that came alive as you read up to this suspenseful ending. Be ready for a read of the sadness and joy that comes from this complex story that was set in Maine. Will this main character [Blake Alvares]be able to return to the life she show more once had after being released from prison? This is where you will have to pick up this good read to see how it all comes out.

By the end, we are given a 'masterful story of redemption and love' that will give one plenty to ponder over long after the read.
