I picked up this book because Elmo was on the cover and my son loves Elmo. However it really is about Big Bird and a fire fly that he catches.
This is another Early Readers book with very similar elements; short sentences, repeats common words, simple in plot. One of the other Early Reader books that I reviewed felt disjointed. This one is not at all. It is simple and flows extremely well. Additionally, the illustrations help to convey emotions of the characters that is not indicated by the show more text (our lightning bug is clearly sad when he's in the jar). I really appreciated that aspect of the book.
There is nothing not to like about this book. It does what it is supposed to do; make reading and telling stories fun.
There is a fantastic message at the heart of this story about respecting all creatures, no matter how small. Overall, a great book. show less

I like this book. I believe that the illustrations are very important in this book as they help to tell the story. For example, the image of the little ballerina peaking into the "biggest" girls class. I like that this book incorporates ballet vocabulary in French. I believe that it shows that the little ballerina is learning. I also like that this book is inclusive in saying "The mothers- and a few fathers-" when discussing helping the girls with costumes. I believe this type of language is show more important because maybe not all of the little ballerinas have mothers. The message of this story is that if you practice hard then your dreams will come true. show less
It a very cute book that talks about quiet. Quiet can appear in different ways and places. It seems like an easy book, but there is a lot of memories and deep feelings for many children.
Quiet can appear everywhere so there are a lot of different themes in this book.
It is a good book for K-3 grade.

I liked parts of this story, while other parts I did not like. I liked how the book explained the story well for young children. It is hard for young children to understand history, but this book did a good job of portraying the history of the pilgrims. I also liked the illustrations of the book. They were colorful and showed what the writing was trying to say. Something I did not love was the plot of the story. This may have been because I do not love history, but for children who do this show more may interest them. I feel that the characters in the story may not be relatable to young children, because they are not pilgrims. However, young children may have a great imagination so they may be able to imagine the lives of these children. The main idea of this story was to explain the history of the pilgrims. show less
