This beginner book would be great in a lower elementary classroom. It is jam-packed with information on bears that would help young students to form a schema of bears. I actually used this book to create a lesson plan for first grade students. The book has a glossary and other text features that can help students learn to use story grammar.
This book, Dogs, could be used as a guided readinng book or picture book, but I am choosing to place it in the guided reading book. This text about dogs is informational, looking at the habits of dogs, how they raise families, and how wild dogs act in the wild. This book has great pictures/ layout to each page, making the information easily accessible for children to look at and read. The pictures that go along with each title page really help students understand what they're reading. I show more would use this as a guided reading book to see how much information students can comprehend and tell back to me without memorizing the information. show less
This book would be better for higher grade levels such as fourth and fifth grade because of the reading level difficulty. This would be a great science book to explain the process of photosynthesis because of all the pictures and labeling the book contains. You could also use this book for the lower grade levels if you were to do a lesson based on environments and how they can all differ.
This book would really beneficial to teach along side of a lesson regarding the life cycle of plants. This is an easy read to have 3rd or 4th graders read on their own in class. It lays out several examples of how plants and animals interact to benefit both parties. And goes into great detail about the processes that contribute to the plant's life cycle. Another use for this book would be discussing text features in a nonfiction book. This book contains a table of contents, an index, a show more glossary, and internet safety guide. Teaching students how to use these features would be very beneficial for future independent research assignments. show less
