This is the best, most comprehensive explanation to date of the evolution of the global economy (dominated by the United States) since the Great Depression. True, it is quite lengthy (985 pages) and though clearly written and largely jargon-free (this book is about economic policy, not economic theory), readers with little or no grasp of basic economic comcepts may well find it tough going. But if you want to understand how we've gotten to where we are, including the twists and turns of US show more economic policy, foreign and domestic, over the past century, this is the place to start. Sez someone who spent his life engaged in the practice and teaching of international economic policy. show less
