If I've learned one thing in competitive sports it is that truly great seasons don't happen all that often. My partner and I had one last year in tennis, and our reward was to get moved up to the division that contains most of the 25-year-old ex-college players. How come age isn't a factor here!?

In any case, if we want to win at this level we are going to have to get better quickly. I don't know any better way to beat those young kids than to read this excellent book by Allen Fox yet again. show more I learned tennis later in life, and missed out on coaches drilling the strategy into me. This is the book that taught me most of what I know about how to play tennis. And as an added bonus, Allen Fox has a wonderful sense of humor. His chapter on lobs is a laugh riot! I think I'm going to read this wonderful book two or three more times before the summer season begins. It certainly couldn't hurt. show less

The best tennis strategies book I've read so far. Good advice about tactics on the court and in the brain. I'll refer back to it for specific scenarios.

My tennis partner assigned me to read this. We won today after being in a bit of a slump so perhaps the book has made a difference!
