A historical fiction from the early 1800s Canadian fur trade days. Story is told from the perspective of a North West Company employee, son of a fur trader and his 'country' wife. The story deals with the conflict between the two rival companies operating in the west; the North West Company out of Montreal and the Hudson's Bay Company operating out of London. It also deals with the conflict that the half-breed children of the 'mixed' liaisons faced in the two societies of the native show more aboriginals on one hand and the English and Scottish societies on the other hand. show less
