There were a lot of interesting aspects of this attempt to examine eroticism in light of communications theory, but it was written by an old, white man in 1979 and, by the standards of now, homophobic and misogynist. It manages to be informed by early post-modernism without sinking into the hole where nothing has any meaning at all, something I'm not sure a more up-to-date study would be able to do.
