- Short biography
- I am a psychologist and a student of religion and society. Raised in a fundamentalist Church of Christ environment, I went to a small Quaker college as an undergraduate, later completing a master's degree in religion at a Methodist Seminary and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology as George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. I was an agnostic by my early 30s and an Atheist by the time I was 40. [from The God Virus (2009)]

A very frank and candid book on the role of sex in relationships and how religion distorts it with ignorance, misinformation, guilt and shame to continue to perpetuate its own continuance.
A little preachy (ha!) in places, but solid information. Deconstructs the barriers to a healthy sexuality and its expression as a consequence of unchecked religiosity. Whatever that means.
I loved the concept behind this book, but it was written far, far too much like a self-help book. I got through about half and lost interest due to the writing style.
Will get to this one as soon as possible.
