Clearly a pre-Vatican Council II book, but Mr. Kittler does no shy away from describing the very many bad actors who were members of the College of Cardinals. Alas, he describes the Popes elected with far greater detail than the College itself, which is understandable given the sole purpose of the College is elect Popes and provide whatever advice the Pope requests.
639. The Papal Princes: A History of the Sacred College of Cardinals, by Glenn D. Kittler (read 21 Jan 1961) My recollection of this book is that it was a hurried job, with little value. I have all my life, since 1937, had great interest in Cardinals, and one of the joys of my life is when I discovered Salvador Miranda's great site on the internet. If you are not familiar with it Google it.
