Really enjoyed this one, although the next few sentences may sound like I didn't. The hero was, for the most part, not very nice, and his way of pushing people away from him was rather sad. I was like "she loves you, you jackass, stop being a dope." At another point I thought EVERYONE was acting like total asses and it was, well, stressful. However, I liked the writing style and I was quite absorbed and, of course, there was a happy ending that made me smile.
This is a story of a beautiful former child beauty contest and a series of letters she exchanges with a Major in the US Army who is stationed in Germany. They fall in love through letters, but when they meet each other in real life, things aren’t quite the same. They both have major hurdles to overcome before they get their HEA. I loved the ‘realness’ of this story. The characters were far from perfect and their first love scene was uncharacteristically fraught with the normal problems show more many of us suffer in real life. show less
