A fine album of Irish locomotive pictures in colour, mostly from the 1950s and 60s. Reproduction is exceptional and the selection provides much interest. In particular, one picture shows on an adjoining line to the subject a British Railways container on a flat wagon, evidence of these things actually being used for their intended purpose! A couple of the pictures show signs of not having been completely cleaned before scanning, but the intrusive hairs are not too obvious and this book is show more far from the worst offender in this area. If I have a criticism, it's that the care taken by the photographers to use the slow colour films of the era on days when the weather was conducive to colour photography possibly gives a false impression of the sort of weather you might expect in Ireland. But when the results are this good, it's churlish to complain. A little prior knowledge of Irish railway history and geography will add to the reader's enjoyment, but this is an ideal addition to any railway library. show less
