The Ignatian Adventure: Experiencing the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in Daily Life by Kevin O'Brien SJ
A spiritual guide (prayer, thought, readings) to the ways of prayer by St. Ignatius Loyola's Examen. Very much a guide to a retreat w the Examen as its prayer missle. There were a few scattered personal notes ut most was about the Examen. I enjoted James Martin's "All You Need to Know. . . " more but this was a worthwhile read with some heartfelt moments.
I read this in the mornings or after work over the course of a couple of months. The prayers settle and focus myself often flashing back to show more Catholic schools. show less

The Ignatian adventure : experiencing the spiritual exercises of Saint Ignatius in daily life by Kevin O'Brien SJ
This book is a guide for those going through or doing the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises (originally 30 days in length but later adapted over longer time periods for busy working people). The book breaks down the exercise into time intervals. These are explained to help one see their focus. Prayer is the prime vehicle for experiencing God and God's movement within the one praying. The book is not a rigid, "do it only this way" but rather is a guide book for understanding. It offers show more understandings and possible approaches for doing the exercises week by week. In addition, Kevin O'Brien weaves into the book stories of his own journey as a Jesuit, and how the exercises have born fruit in his own life. This helps give witness to the depth and the expansiveness of the exercises and their profound ability to impact lives - each person in a unique and wonderful way. show less
