The greatest story ever told... of the greatest engineering achievement in the history of humanity. I actually think it's the greatest story ever told, period.

Disclaimer: the Apollo program will never get old for me, so when I say that this is the best book I've read this year, take that with the appropriate grain... Parry did a marvelous job weaving the chronological recount with the back story of the crew, NASA, the development, the tragedies and of course, the triumphs. I found myself show more holding my breath as I read the part of the landing and that is something no book has ever be able to invoke in me.

Excellent. Highly recommended.

If you lived through the space race times, and you were actually awake, this book will bring back a host of memories about the first manned landing on the moon. Very well written, with plenty of detail for the process junkie. It is absolutely amazing what humans have been able to do! And now we have Facebook and Twitter? Oh well.
I listened to the Audible audiobook version narrated by John Chancer. Listening to this workman-like account of the space race to the moon landing brought back lots of memories. There wasn't quite enough of the "inside story" however.
