A first rate look at the lives of New York's rich and famous from a past age....Mrs. Astor, Mrs. Vanderbilt, Rockefeller, Morgan, Whitney, Carnegie, etc., they're all here. The book devotes a chapter to each of its subjects. The chapter talks about the houses the lived in, the jewels they wore, and the art they collected. It's great fun to read, and extremely interesting. Recommended for any fans of New York society from long ago.
I read this book sixty years ago, but remember it as a basic account of the combined operation that seriously embarrassed the Americans.
