George Ives was a upperclass gentleman of the late 19th - mid- 20th century London. Called an "eccentric" (if you consider a gay man with progressive views on social issues eccentric), for over half a century to his death Ives kept scrapbooks of newspaper cuttings on a range of topics, including strange events, cross dressers and sexuality (perhaps not surprisingly), and the good and the evil that exist in this world.

Lots of interesting stories for Forteans here, and Dr Mary Walker, one of show more my favourite people of all time, gets a mention as well. However, I must warn you that some of the stories may haunt you for some time, like the one where some white people hunted and shot a black man to pep up their weekend. show less
