Great Shark Stories - Valerie and Ron Taylor ****
A collection of shark tales spanning the career of Valerie and Ron Taylor. To be honest I only picked the book up because of the introduction by Peter Benchley but was pleasantly surprised by the content of the rest of the book.
We are treated to an inside view on the place that sharks have in the world, by a couple who have spent their lives studying and filming them for both the small and big screen.
For anyone with an interest in sharks I show more would easily recommend it, but as the title suggests it is a book of 'tales' entwined with personal experience, not a scientific analysis. show less

This colorful survey of Ocean environments would be attractive to young readers of almost any age. Although it does not go into depth about any topic, it does offer good information for a younger student to use as a research material, or just as a source of interest to introduce students and whet their appetites for further research. It would serve well in a classroom library, or could be read whole-class style to a circle of students.
