Özcan Akyol

A very interesting and razor-sharp essay by the gand of a young Dutch writer. He mainly rages against the haughtiness and navel-gazing of the established literary order, which maintains itself. I was nice to read. And with his comments about the lectures on literary science, he also brings to life again my own experiences with that part of my study.

In 2020, Akyol Özcan stormed the literary scene. He came with a storm ram, to shake up the literary establishment, which, in his opinion, looks down on a very large number of young writers. Özcan, an autodidact, who left university studying Dutch language and literature makes the point that talent counts over the snobbery of the baby boomer generation of snuggly settles authors.

Refreshing.

Dit was een interessant maar wel een beetje grof boek qua taalgebruik.
Özcan Akyol is op dit moment een 'bekende Nederlander' en het is bijna niet te geloven dat hij de zelfde man is als de man die we nu kennen.
Hij beschrijft zijn jeugd met een tiran als vader, hoe hij in het criminele circuit terecht is gekomen en het boek eindigt als hij in de gevangenis in Scheveningen zit en kennis maakt met boeken. Dat zal het keerpunt voor hem worden. Maar het boek gaat daar verder niet op in.
Ik snap show more ook wel dat het semi-biografisch is en dat het misschien allemaal een beetje aangedikt is en overdreven. Maar in de kern is er ook veel van waar. show less
