A great deal of C++ written professionally is poor code, hacked out by programmers who don't explore and understand the language, who don't seem to care about their work.

Sutter's a key player in the next version of Microsoft Visual C++, and chairing the C++ Standards Committee. This guy knows his stuff.

In this book, the first of a series of three, Sutter introduces and works through a very important number of points on taking exceptions into account. If you want to write code that doesn't show more bugger data up when things go wrong, read Sutter, and follow his advice. show less
Probably a perfectly decent book, but not as generic as I was hoping. Also a little too computer enginereing-y and not super relatable to my electrical classes where my students have to program but don't need to be 1337 computer scientists.
