Overall, a below average memoir about a dealer in new books who enjoys dropping names of famous people that visited his store and taping shows about books on radio and tv, than he is of selling books. The best chapters tell how he started in a small store that was entered by climbing 7 stairs (he later admits 8 stairs). He is constantly pleading poverty, but can afford to hire all kinds of employees, land and a.summer home with boat on the Michigan peninsula! I enjoyed his relationships with show more Chicago renaissance authors, including Starrett. show less
