This book is set in early Vancouver with the start and end of the book in the modern day. The majority of the book deals with the creation of a game "the man game" which even after reading the book I am at a loss to explain. The characters are over the top and somehow you are not drawn to any of them. Too many ends of the story are left loose and it tends to drag on a bit for large chunks in the middle. This is not a book I would rush to recommend.
