The description given for this short story is completely wrong. The story is about a man who lost his sight and is struggling to regain his independence. It’s set in a world where the population lives underground, although I don’t recall the location being identified or the reason for the underground lifestyle.
The story had some interesting aspects and twists, but I didn’t find the book or the MC very likeable.
