This was a book that I bought just because the cover looked like something I might be interested in having on our library shelf. After reading it, I have decided to keep it, even though it is more of a mediocre book than a great one. My reasons for keeping it: 1) it features a homeschooling family, 2) the family dynamics are quite healthy, with the parents being quite involved with their children, 3) the setting, on an island with an off-grid, farm-based life, is delightful, and 4) I have a show more little girl who loves dogs and will be able to read this level of book within a couple of years. At the same time, when we run out of space on the shelves in the main library, this one will likely be relegated to another area that receives less traffic, because the quality of the writing is, as I said, mediocre. I did like the strong faith aspect that comes through in the family’s daily life. show less

Until recently, Western media largely ignored the plight of Ethiopia's starving people. And even now, many aren't presenting all the facts
