I really liked this book and the way the author was able to create a time and place and build up effectively to the deaths that you knew were coming but not in the way that you expected. There is so much detail given in this story. Craig is a young lifeguard on a German beach when two children die on his watch. The story of the day on the beach leading up to the deaths is very well told. The back stories of the three man characters Criag, Gerd a fellow worker on the beach, and Craig's show more grandfather are very well drawn.
