A fascinating account of the memorable life of Tony Porter, brother in law to Barbara Hulanicki, founder of Biba, the iconic 60's fashion house.
Beginning with his life in Nigeria, working for ICI, then helping Barbara sell her fashions, he finally buys an island, the famous Burgh Island.
He restored the wonderful Art Deco hotel on the island.
This was the setting for some of Agatha Christie's stories, most notably "And Then There Were None".
A joyful book for anyone interested in Fashion, show more travel and Agatha Christie.Very highly recommended.
If you get the chance, read "Great White Palace" which documents the restoration in more detail.
I was given a digital copy of this book by the publisher Troubador/Matador via Netgalley in return for an honest unbiased review. show less
