I say skimmed, but really I read everything a non-scholar would be expected to. ?áThe introduction is the bulk of the text; the rest of the words are annotations for the plates. ?áThis is a coffee table book that I found in my son's college library when I went up with him today and waited for him during the single class he has on Friday - I easily paged through the entire book, collecting lots of titles of books that I want to find on Project Gutenberg, collecting names of artists I want show more to find works' images of for my wallpaper backgrounds, and reading annotations, or children's texts on the photographed pages, whenever something caught my fancy.

Notes mention:

Oliver Goldsmith
Tom Telescope
Richard Doyle
Arthur Hughes
Mrs. Mary Blaize
Struwwelpeter
Titmarsh (Wm M. Thackery)
The Butterfly that Stamped

etc.

Highly recommended to all fans of the genre if they have access to an academic library or another source. ?áNot quite amazing enough, imo, for a simple fan to buy.

It is a list of a book exhibit showing books chosen as important to science in the last 2000 years. As an example, a few of those are by Pliny, Aristotle, Plato, Socrates, Pythagoras, and Copernicus. It is of interest as in view of the books they chose as important to the last 2000 years of science.
This catalogue is an abbreviated version of a full scholarly catalogue. The essays are reprinted in full yet the number of illustrations have been reduced.
