The later seasons after the showrunner's departure being generally weaker (and in one of TV history's more surprising character developments, gradually turning formerly adorable Rory's character into an entitled, callous and rather unlikable person) is the only reason this is not a five star show. And I'm still hovering at 4.7-4.8 and could really be rounding it either way. Heartfelt, sweet, and oh so funny, this is everything a light-hearted family drama should be.
I had bought this years ago, but somehow never watched it. I've denied myself a jewel. Years ago, Cabaret was the first professionally produced play I saw. The choreography fascinated me, but I couldn't dance and I could sing, so I focused on the music. I enjoyed Chicago with its music and dance, but somehow never made the connection.
As I watched this, I got to see so many great numbers. I have my favorites.
From Act I: Percussion 4 and Big Spender
Act II: I Gotcha and Cool Hand Luke
Act III: show more Razzle Dazzle and Mr. Bojangles (which brought tears to my eyes)
I am glad for the interviews that were between the acts. It gave Fosse a human face and I learned a lot.
This DVD won't gather dust again. show less

Brooke Burns does an amazing and believable job as an undercover agent. She made me tired !
