I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Jessica Harper and Clint Wilkins seemed to have sparks flying from the second they laid eyes on each other--only Clint is accustomed to going through women as fast as you and I change socks. Commitment is not his strength, but with Jessica, he can't help his growing attraction to her. Jessica wants to get to know him, but Clint has dark secrets that he wants to keep sealed away in his past.
On a trip to a friend's cabin, Clint becomes gravely ill. Jessica, show more frightened for him, nurses him and prays for his recovery. During their stay at the cabin, Jessica spots him in bed with another woman. She leaves to go back to the ranch.
Clint learns of her disappearance and wants go after her. He finally realizes that he must decide if he's willing to reveal his love for her and to her or if he should let her go.
The supporting characters are wonderful and sometimes, they're even funny! Veronica is a determined woman--she reminds me of a cougar, prowls around staking her territory and wants to dig her claws into any good looking man. Rose Marie also struck me as a man-hungry woman, but later seems to transform into a more subdued character. Johnnie is portrayed as Clint's best friend and fellow hired hand at the ranch. His desire for Jessica drives Clint up the wall. These three characters all help to add a wonderful element of rivalry to the story.
