These poems are short evocative descriptions of paintings. The paintings are mostly by nineteenth century American painters, a genre of painting that I have spent almost no time with. So, while I appreciated the language use of the poetry, the subject matter was entirely lost on me. If you are a fan of Whistler or Winslow Homer, I think you'll appreciate these much more than I did.
